About

White Rhino was bred in Amsterdam by Green House Seed Company in the 1990s, the same operation that produced Super Silver Haze and later Super Lemon Haze. White Rhino descends from White Widow, which was itself created by Green House breeder Shantibaba in 1994 from Brazilian and South Indian parent stock. White Rhino took White Widow as the maternal line and crossed it with a selected Afghan indica, producing a result that is about 80 percent indica, 20 percent sativa. The strain won 2nd prize in the Bio category at the 1996 High Times Cannabis Cup and took 2nd place at the 2005 Champions Cup. Those placements put White Rhino in the solid second tier of Green House's 1990s output, below the Super Silver Haze and White Widow in terms of competition record but still widely distributed. The terpene data in our database is interesting given the indica classification. Limonene leads at 0.40%, with myrcene at 0.32%, linalool at 0.17%, and caryophyllene at 0.12% in supporting positions. That limonene-forward profile is unusual for a strain in the "White Family" of Green House indicas, which typically show caryophyllene or myrcene dominance. The resulting aroma is sharper, more citrus-pungent than the earthier Afghan indicas that share similar parentage. Our database chemotype classification is "Yellow (Limonene-dominant)", a relatively unusual tag for a classical Afghan-descended indica. THC ranges between 12.3 and 16.7% in our lab samples, which is on the low end for a Green House strain and suggests our sample is from an under-expressive phenotype. Reviewers describe the effects as hungry as the top, with relaxed and uplifted following, a shortened three-effect arc consistent with an indica that leans toward appetite and relaxation.

Why does White Rhino have these effects?

White Rhino's effects are driven by its dominant limonene (0.40%), known for mood elevation and stress relief, combined with myrcene (0.32%), which has sedative and muscle-relaxant properties.
