About

Lemon Skunk has a two-continent origin story. The maternal line is a lemon-phenotype Skunk #1 that was kept in Las Vegas for over two decades by a grower known as Lemon Man. In the late 1990s, Lemon Man brought his cut to Amsterdam, where he joined DNA Genetics and crossed his Las Vegas mother with a father plant provided by Eddie, owner of one of the oldest Dutch seed banks. The result became Lemon Skunk, formally released by DNA Genetics with roughly 60 percent sativa and 40 percent indica expression. The strain's competition record is substantial for its era. Lemon Skunk took first place for DNA Genetics at the 2007 High Life Cup, and the following year the Lemon Man cut was named first place hydroponic winner at the 2008 Spannabis Championship Cup. Those placements established Lemon Skunk as a reference lemon-forward hybrid, and the strain has since become a common parent in modern breeding, most notably as one half of the cross that produced Super Lemon Haze. The terpene data in our database is well-distributed. Caryophyllene leads at 0.44%, with myrcene at 0.36%, limonene at 0.31%, and humulene at 0.28% in a tight four-way split. Linalool at 0.26% rounds out a full five-terpene top tier. That spread is unusual for a strain that reads as "lemon-forward" in the name, since limonene is only third in the ranking rather than dominant. The characteristic Lemon Skunk aroma comes partly from the limonene that is present and partly from the balance of the other four terpenes. Our database chemotype classification is "Purple (Caryophyllene-dominant)", which is technically correct based on the lab numbers but somewhat counterintuitive given the strain's common reputation as a citrus hybrid. THC ranges between 17.0 and 23.0% across the lab samples in our database. The effects record in our database is incomplete, limited to euphoric as the only tracked effect, so consumers looking for fuller effect information should reference external sources.

Why does Lemon Skunk feel pain-relieving?

Lemon Skunk's pain-relieving effects are linked to its dominant caryophyllene (0.44%), one of the few terpenes that binds directly to CB2 cannabinoid receptors. Complemented by myrcene (0.36%), which has sedative and muscle-relaxant properties.
