Want to know how to empty your 510 vape carts safely and reuse them? Glass ceramic 510 cartridges can be cleaned and refilled 2–3 times with the right technique. In this guide, we walk through 5 easy steps to recycle 510 cartridges using a heat gun and isopropyl alcohol.
Tools You Need
Before you start, gather these items:
- Heat gun (dual temperature settings)
- Needle nose pliers
- Isopropyl alcohol (91% or higher)
- Small container or jar
- Paper towels and Q-tips
Step 1 — Remove the Mouthpiece
Remove the plastic caps from both ends of your cart. Then twist off the mouthpiece and set it aside in your container. With the mouthpiece removed, the cart is ready to drain. Hold the cart upside down over your collection container — you’ll see oil start to drip out immediately.
Step 2 — Heat Gun Vape Cart Method
Grip the cart with needle nose pliers and keep it inverted over the container. Use the heat gun vape cart technique: set the heat gun to low and wave it around the cartridge in short passes — never hold it in one spot. The gentle heat loosens the oil and it drips into the container below.
Important: the heat gun vape cart process requires patience. There’s a rubber seal inside each 510 cart — overheating will damage it and ruin the cartridge. Keep the gun moving, work in short bursts, and stop once the dripping slows.
Step 3 — Isopropyl Alcohol Vape Cleaning
Once the cart has cooled completely, submerge it and the mouthpiece in a small container of isopropyl alcohol. This isopropyl alcohol vape cleaning step dissolves residual oil and residue from inside the ceramic chamber. Let everything soak for 5–10 minutes, gently swirling every couple of minutes to agitate the liquid.
