Venty Sesh at 400°F: DoseCraft Update, Visions and Grocery Munchies

An unplanned Venty sesh at 400°F (204°C). What's new in DoseCraft and how to add your own recipes, Visions (my trip simulator plugin), Zoetra, a song about how much I say "right", the edible videos I want to make next, and why you should never go grocery shopping high.

by Fordee

No plan, no script. I was already blasted when I sat down, figured you guys probably wanted a sesh, and got even more blasted. Eyes bigger than my stomach. What came out is a catch-up on everything I've been building, plus a few tangents I didn't see coming.

The Venty at 400°F

Somebody always asks, so: the Venty is at 400°F (204°C). That's the top end for me, I don't like it much higher than that. If you run concentrates in the Venty, here's my low-temp Cotton Bacon hack.

Visions, my trip simulator plugin

I just finished the tutorial for my next plugin, Visions. It simulates what it's like to be on psilocybin or LSD: the textures undulate and move, the colors drift, there are trails, and the geometry sticks to the surfaces. There isn't anything else out there to compare it to, which is a big part of why I'm so excited about it. Visions lives here.

100x Right

People in the comments tease me for saying "right" too much. Some of you turned it into a drinking game, or a take-a-hit game. Enough people said it that I actually thought about why I do it.

It's involuntary. I used to teach college-level music production and video production, and I think it started as a way to check people were listening. So I made it a song.

100x Right plays in the video, and you can hear the whole thing there.

Never go grocery shopping high

Your eyes are bigger than your stomach. You pick up things you never buy. Chocolate covered pickles? Sounds amazing. Everything sounds good, the cart is full, and getting it all home is a whole mission. Maybe that's just me.

What's new in DoseCraft

DoseCraft is my edible companion app. You work out how many milligrams of THC are in your infusion, like a batch of butter, how much is in a tablespoon or an ounce, and then carry that into whatever you bake with it. Make 12 cookies or 24 and it tells you roughly how strong each one is. It estimates how strong your batch is, it doesn't tell you how much to take.

It also prints labels, so you never look at a jar and wonder what it is, when you made it or how strong it is. Here's how I label mine. That matters even more if you live with anybody else who could come across it.

The new update brings:

  • Every guide rewritten from scratch, with citable scientific sources. The data behind the infusions and decarbs comes from studies I read, and now the guides point to them.
  • A picks section where I feature recipes from the community.
  • 150 recipes in the app to start from.

Add your own recipes

A lot of people don't realize you can add your own recipes. Upload a photo, list what's in it, write the steps, then publish it so other people can use it.

The cool part is that your recipe works with every tool in the app. Run an infusion calculation with it, a servings calculation, or log a diary entry for how a piece hit you. Bada bing bada boom. If the community gets into it there will be so many recipes for people to rate and vote on, and I want to see what you make.

Where the AI stuff comes in

Once the app reaches a certain number of users, I want to add strain suggestions. I built a strain database from lab data out of California, Washington and Oregon, and the idea is to run terpene profiles against recipes for flavor pairings, and maybe entourage pairings. It needs a bigger user base to make sense, so it comes when it comes.

Zoetra

This is what eats almost all of my time these days. Zoetra is an AI production studio I'm building: the consistency is out of this world, it saves you money on generations, and there's a prompt library and a subtitler built in. Sign up at zoetra.app to get notified for the first release.

Edible videos I want to make

  • Lace cookies dipped in chocolate. Infuse the chocolate for sure, the cookies don't need it. It's a thin dough, sometimes with oats for a chewier texture. I haven't made them yet, so I'll try them before I film it.
  • Popcorn balls, because it's the holidays. My mom makes them every Christmas, not infused, and I won't be with family this year.

Abracadabra

My buddy Zelig is a magician. Sleight of hand, cards, and mentalism, where he figures out what you're thinking or makes you think something. Obviously there are tricks to it, and it still works. It's wild when it happens to you.

He came up because I say abracadabra when I'm in a state of "oh." I also say gesundheit when I cough, or when I fart. I've done it so long I don't think about it. Is it me? Am I weird, or are we all weird together?

Your turn

If you made it this far, you're who I make the tools for. Are there tools I could add to the website to make it better? A lot of you like the Sesh Timer. How could I make it better or easier for you? The music in it runs on playlists I picked because they play long and sound good, so if you want different genres, tell me and I'll change them.

If you make edibles and have a channel, I do lifetime DoseCraft deals for creators. Reach out here.

Should I do more of these unplanned seshes? Tell me in the comments on the video.
