Hash in a Ball Vape: How I Run It in the Universal Baller at 626°F

This is part two of the Universal Baller run. The review covered the kit and how the thing actually works. This one is hash, and almost nothing about the setup is the same.

626°F (330°C), quartz insert out, a small disc of filtered 4 star sitting on a cotton screen.

Why the insert stays out

626°F is nowhere near a flavor mode temperature, so the quartz isn't doing the job it exists to do at that setting. You'd be giving up the reason to have it in and getting nothing back.

There's a second reason, and it's the one that would actually cost you money. Prolonged high heat with quartz sitting inside the metal heater could fuse the two together. I don't have a number for you on what temperature that starts at or how long it takes, and I'd rather not run the experiment on a long session.

Cotton Bacon as the screen

Cotton Bacon is vaping cotton. Unbleached, built to sit at high temperatures, and cheap enough to treat as disposable. Under the hash it works as a screen.

What it does for you:

• Holds the hash up instead of letting it run straight through the bowl
• Soaks up the leftover plant material while the session is going
• Comes out in one piece at the end, so you throw it away and the bowl is basically clean

Cleanup is normally the part of running hash that makes people not bother. This takes it off the table entirely.

I've used cotton as a hash screen before in a completely different setup, back when I was doing it in a VapCap, so this isn't a new trick, just a new home for it.

Heat soak, then small puffs

30 second heat soak to start. Then a bunch of small puffs rather than going straight into a full pull, because what we're doing is building heat in the bowl area before we ask anything of it.

Finding the amount you can finish

Heat stacks the whole time you're going. That's the part that decides whether the session was any good.

Run it too long and the hash gets spent before it ever fully gave up what it had. You end up pulling less out of the same piece, which is a waste of hash and a waste of the setup. So the skill here isn't the temperature or the technique, it's loading an amount you can actually finish before you hit that wall.

How long that window is isn't a number I can hand you. It moves with your draw, how long you heat soaked, and how many hits you're taking back to back. Watch the pacing in the video, then tune it to yourself over a few sessions.

Your draw is doing more of the work here than most people give it credit for. Temperature decides what comes off the hash, airflow decides how it gets to you, which is why two people at the same setting can end up with completely different sessions.
