Want to know how to do bottle tokes the right way? Bottle tokes — also known as bottle tech or hash bottle tokes — are one of the oldest and most pure ways to smoke hashish. You drill a small hole in a glass bottle, drop burning hash inside on a dab tool, cover the top with your hand, and inhale as the bottle fills with thick, flavorful smoke. It is an incredibly efficient technique that can get you seriously elevated from a small amount of hash.
How to do Bottle Tokes: 5 Steps to the Perfect Hit
Follow these 5 steps to learn how to do bottle tokes cleanly and safely. This method works best with quality hashish and a proper glass bottle.
Step 1: Drill a Hole in the Glass Bottle
The first step in learning how to do bottle tokes is preparing the bottle. Use a diamond drill bit and a drill press or handheld drill to make a clean hole in the side of a glass bottle — big enough to fit your dab tool through. Always keep the glass wet while drilling by spraying water continuously. Go slowly — rushing will crack the glass. Secure the drill bit with a washer and gaffer tape to guide it accurately. No drill? Drop a small coin inside and bang the bottle heel against the sole of a sneaker until a hole breaks through — not as clean, but functional.
Step 2: Prepare the Hash on Your Dab Tool
Take a small piece of hashish — a quarter gram is plenty — and warm it between your fingers until it becomes malleable. Press it firmly onto the tip of your dab tool. If the hash is not sticking well, lightly heat the tool tip to prime it. You could also use a cigarette as the carrier, placing hash on the cherry, though keep in mind cigarette smoke rises faster than hash smoke and will escape the bottle more quickly.
Step 3: Light the Hash and Insert It
Hold the hash-loaded dab tool over a flame and spin it slowly to prime it. Once the hash starts to cherry — glowing orange and producing steady smoke — insert the dab tool through the hole in the bottle. Cover the opening at the top of the bottle with your hand to trap the smoke. The bottle will begin filling with thick, dense hash smoke. A more cherried piece produces smoke faster and fills the bottle quicker for bigger hits.
