A free puff peak — sounds too good to be true, right? Turns out it isn’t. I scored a working PuffCo Peak for absolutely nothing after helping a friend move and then tracking down a spare atomizer. In this post, I’ll walk you through exactly how it happened, how to set one up properly, and give you my honest take on the device after using it.
How I Scored a Free Puff Peak
The story of my free puff peak started with a favour. I helped a friend move apartments, and at the end of the day he handed me his PuffCo Peak and said it was mine — the only catch was a busted atomizer. Instead of buying one, I reached out to my network and found another friend with a spare atomizer he was happy to give away. Two days later I had a fully functional free puff peak and no excuse not to review it.
I’ll admit I’m late to the PuffCo party — this device has been around for years. But sometimes the best reviews come from people who weren’t chasing hype, just trying out the gear.
Free Puff Peak Setup: 5 Essential First Steps
1. Fully Charge Before First Use
The very first thing to do with any free puff peak (or newly acquired one) is plug it in and charge it completely. Starting with a full battery ensures the device works at peak performance from the jump.
2. Run a Burn-Off Cycle
Before your first real session, do a burn-off: set the device to its highest power mode (White / 600°F) and run it empty for 5 minutes — once or twice. This burns off any factory oils, packaging dust, and shipping residue. It’s especially important if you’ve installed a new atomizer, as Fordee did with this free puff peak.
3. Fill the Glass Correctly
Add water just past the two front holes in the glass. Don’t shake it — if water sloshes into the back hole it can reach the atomizer and damage it. When seating the glass, align the back hole with the corresponding hole on the body and press down gently until it clicks into place.
