Knowing how to make an apple pipe is one of the most useful stoner life skills you can have. Whether you forgot your pipe at home, you are visiting a friend, or you just want to try something different, a DIY apple pipe no bowl required — just an apple, a knife, and a chopstick. Fordee from Herbistry420 walks through the entire process in under five minutes, and this guide breaks it down into 5 easy steps.
What Is an Apple Pipe?
An apple pipe is an improvised weed pipe made from a fresh apple. You carve a bowl on top, poke a channel through the middle, and use the apple itself as the pipe body. It is one of the simplest and most popular DIY pipes because the materials are easy to find, it costs almost nothing, and it actually adds a mild apple flavour to your smoke. When you are done, you can technically eat the apple — just avoid the ash area at the top.
What You Need to Make an Apple Pipe
- 1 fresh apple (any size — bigger is easier to work with)
- An apple corer (optional but recommended — makes the channel straight)
- A sharp knife or a spoon
- A chopstick or pen to poke the air channel
- A pipe screen (optional — prevents weed from falling through)
- Your lighter and cannabis flower
How to Make an Apple Pipe in 5 Easy Steps
Step 1: Core the Apple
If you have an apple corer, line it up with the centre of the apple from top to bottom and push straight through. This creates the main air channel that runs through the apple. Try to keep it straight — a crooked channel means uneven airflow. If you do not have an apple corer, a chopstick or a pen works too. Just push it through slowly and rotate it to widen the hole. Do not push all the way through the bottom — stop about 1 cm from the bottom so the apple stays intact.
