Cold Start Dab: 5 Steps to Perfect Hits Every Time

Step 1 — Load Your Concentrate

Use a dab tool or e-knife to place a small amount of concentrate (rosin, wax, or live resin) directly into the cold quartz banger. A rice-grain-sized piece is a great starting point for beginners.

Step 2 — Heat the Sides First

Briefly pass the flame around the sides of the banger for 2-3 seconds. This pre-warms the walls so concentrate does not stick to cold glass when the terp pearls start spinning.

Step 3 — Heat the Bottom Until It Bubbles

Move the torch to the bottom of the banger and hold it there. Watch closely — the concentrate will start to melt, then bubble. Once you see active bubbling, count “one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand” and remove the flame.
