Flintts mouth watering mints are a unique product designed to fight cotton mouth and dry mouth using the power of the Spilanthes flower. In this review, we put 3 different Flintts mint flavors to the test including Mint, Lemon, and Strawberry Magic to see how well they actually work and which flavor comes out on top.
What Are Flintts Mouth Watering Mints?
Flintts mouth watering mints are mints that use a specific flower native to the Amazon called Spilanthes (also known as buzz button or electric daisy). This flower is traditionally used by locals to increase saliva production, soothe the throat, and relieve toothache pain. Each mint dissolves on your tongue and triggers your mouth to produce more saliva which is exactly what you need when water alone is not cutting it.
The mints come in reusable metal tins with no plastic, and they are vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free. There are 9 total flavors available, though we reviewed 3 that were picked up at Spannabis 2024.
Flintts Mouth Watering Mints F-Strength System
Each Flintts mint pack has an F-strength rating printed on the bottom of the tin. This number ranges from F100 to F300 and indicates how strongly the mint stimulates saliva production:
- F100 — Subtle mouth watering effect, very mild
- F200 — Moderate saliva production (Mint flavor)
- F225 — Slightly stronger (Strawberry Magic flavor)
- F250 — Noticeable kick (Lemon flavor)
- F300 — Maximum strength, long-lasting saliva production
In practice, the differences between F200, F225, and F250 felt very similar. All 3 flavors produced comparable levels of saliva despite the different ratings.
3 Flintts Mint Flavors Reviewed
1. Mint (F200)
The classic Mint flavor hits you immediately with a familiar minty freshness. After the initial flavor fades, you notice the Spilanthes effect which is a mild electrical tingling sensation on the tongue that feels slightly sandpapery. Your mouth starts producing significantly more saliva within seconds. Among the 3 flavors, Mint had the most noticeable tingling sensation.
2. Lemon (F250)
The Lemon flavor is bright and refreshing right out of the tin. It has the highest F-strength of the 3 at F250, though the actual saliva production felt about the same as the Mint. The lemon taste is pleasant and citrusy before the Spilanthes effect takes over. A great choice if you want something fresher than traditional mints.
3. Strawberry Magic (F225)
Strawberry Magic is the most unique of the 3 Flintts mouth watering mints flavors. It tastes like strawberry bubblegum and does the best job masking the Spilanthes side effects. The sandpapery tongue sensation is barely noticeable with this one, making it the best starting flavor for first-time users who want the cotton mouth relief without the unusual mouth feel.
Do Flintts Mouth Watering Mints Actually Work?
Yes, Flintts mouth watering mints absolutely deliver on their promise. After popping one in your mouth and letting it dissolve, saliva production increases noticeably. The effect kicks in fast within about 30 seconds and lasts as long as the mint is dissolving. For anyone dealing with cotton mouth after a session, these are a reliable and natural solution.
The one trade-off is a slightly unusual sensation on your tongue, almost like a mild sandpaper feeling caused by the Spilanthes flower. It is not unpleasant, just different. The Strawberry Magic flavor masks this sensation the best.
Flintts Mints vs Regular Mints
If you just want fresh breath, a regular mint or piece of gum from the store will do the job better and cheaper. Flintts mouth watering mints are more expensive than standard mints and the flavor experience is different. However, if your goal is specifically to combat dry mouth or cotton mouth, regular mints cannot compete. Flintts mints are purpose-built for saliva production and they do it well.
